Over the millennia, Farmers have extended their farms up into the fertile flanks of the Comeragh Mountains. Beautiful to look at now and synonymous with the Irish countryside one can only imagine the toil and effort needed to lay out this framework of walls that stretch for miles across the Comeragh landscape.
Martin Croke has taken the texture of these walls and captured them in the simple but beautiful Stoneyford pattern. Master Cutters lay out each cut, one after the other in vertical bands, with each band providing the position for the next. This is exactly how the original walls were laid down and the resulting pattern pays homage to the farmers of yesteryear.
